Partnerships are crucial for conservation and biodiversity management. The Southern African Wildlife Management Association (SAWMA – https://sawma.co.za/) formed an affiliation with one of our sister societies, the Australasian Wildlife Management Association ((AWMS – https://awms.org.au/) several years ago. As a result, valuable collaborations and networks have been formed due to the reciprocal attendance of annual conferences hosted by both societies. The importance of partnerships for SAWMA is also often emphasised by our conference themes and hosts. The 2024 conference in Namibia this year, hosted by the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, will reiterate the importance of partnerships as one of the key themes of the conference and once again welcome a number of our AWMS colleagues. 

To illustrate the partnership and value it has for all, video interviews conducted with members from both societies were produced after our 2022 conference at Bonamanzi, KZN. SAWMA and AWMS are proud sponsors of the videos, which will be a first attempt at showcasing SAWMA and AWMS and its members to others.

This will be the first of hopefully more interviews that we will publish if we can secure more sponsorship to produce the other video interviews recorded at the same conference.
